From the Churchwardens

We thank God for the many generous gifts that have been bestowed on us over the past months.  The Churchwardens and PCC are most appreciative of the warmth and kindness of everyone.

Thank you all so much for the excellent response in the little harvest boxes.  The junior school and church raised almost £300.00.  This year’s money will go to help children in developing countries providing health care and education, etc. A big thank you to Janice Pinnock for the brilliant idea.

Another ‘thank you’ to David Watts who has made and presented the church with the beautiful replica of the Coronation Chair which as dedicated to his late wife Pauline by Father John Beaumont on Flower Festival Sunday, the Church’s birthday.

Mr & Mrs Webb who had the very attractive stall of turned wood at the Flower Festival donated all their takings, which was a considerable sum of money, to the General Fund and we thank them also for this very generous gift.

November 1st, at our monthly Evensong which is proving to be popular, we have invited people who have been bereaved over the past year and whose loved one’s funerals were held in church. We will light a candle for each person who has died and remember them in our service. Please support these people at Evensong. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

A reminder to you all if you wish to have a candle lit on Christmas Eve at Midnight Mass in memory of a loved one please order your candle from Denise Pruden. They cost £2.00 each and come in two colours, red and white.  We only have a limited amount of candles in stock and when ordered they take a while to be delivered. Nearer the time labels will be available to put on the candle with a name and message.

Don’t forget the lovely Advent Service on the last Sunday in November at 6.00 pm and this year we will be having a Carol Service the Saturday before Christmas, 19th December, at 6.00 pm, so you can go to your parties afterwards. The Christingle service is on the following day, so put the dates in your diaries so you do not forget.

Although all appears to be quiet regarding a new priest, I can assure you that the PCC are active in this direction and the final copy of the Parish Profile is in the process of being produced to send to the Archdeacon. Keep praying for the right person.
